// VIVECA
Hi, what can I help you with?
// DEGAR
Today was gonna be the day, but they'll never throw it back to you. And by now, you should've somehow realized what you're not to do.
audio ; viv ; (forward dated to post-dnd mission!)
You and Degar have managed the tremendous task of shelterin' and shepherding this crew over the past year, adding to folks' needs and comforts as they arise. There's nothing any of us can do to repay the both of you.
I was wonderin'... hopin'... ( he thinks of jim and drift, gone home, not knowing what they went through; of blue and clara, fragile but fighting so mightily against the end; and itachi, ready and relieved at the inexorable approach of his own death. those that he had so little time to know, and those still here that he and others have come to love so fiercely.
s'cuse him while he clears out the lump in his throat. )
I'd like to propose a memorial for the orbers, those who've come and gone from this crew and those long past. Somethin' permanent, somethin' tangible the crew can put their hands on, or sit with, if they want to. Somethin' they'll know will be here when it's time for them to leave too.
Even when they all forget, there'll still be an account of them here.
apologies for the delay!
and, in the quiet of the north wing, smiles when he gets to the crux of his proposition. ]
That sounds like a wonderful idea. To remember everyone... yes, that'd be good.
Did you have an idea for what it would look like, or where you'd want it to be?
no worries, i'm late as heck!
Good. Great!
( mccoy continues, having clearly considered this for a while. )
Perhaps another little hydroponic garden in the sunlight room, where they can plant seeds from their homes or past missions, if they wish. With a beacon light at its center, warm and welcoming for them.
Everyone ought to have input of their own, though, I'm just one voice here. ( wry, before he adds: ) And I want you and Degar's input, too.

[ there's a smile in her voice, soft as it is. ] It is nice of you to ask for our input, but in the end, it will be there for you. All of you. Not us. So what you think will be the best is what matters.
