PREMISE

It feels like a regular dream, at first, when suddenly everything fades around you and leaves you floating in the darkness. Echoing in the emptiness, there’s a voice:

We all live with regrets… and we all live with the knowledge that whatever has happened cannot be changed.

The voice is quiet for a moment, letting you think, letting you remember the thing you regret the most.

But I’m offering you that chance. To undo what you regret… in exchange for your help.

The darkness around you shifts as little stars pop into existence around you, as you see planets circle you. You see a bright light, beaming in the middle of the planets, before it shakes and shatters, pieces of it falling to the planets before disappearing entirely.

The voice explains that this is what you have to do, if you agree - to recover the pieces that have gone missing, to return them back to where they belong. Once you do that, they will give you the power to undo what you regret the most.

So what do you say? What are you willing to do to erase your regret from existence?

Your answer remains between you and the voice… but whatever it is, it is enough.

For when you wake, it is in a bed not your own.

Ximilia is a panfandom, mission-based, character-driven sci-fi game that blends different genres. The characters wake up on a space station that serves as their home base, from where they are transported to a different planet to recover one of the orbs that will eventually power their wishes to undo their regrets. On each planet, the characters will be given a mission that they all have to fulfill if they want the orb to eventually lend them its power.

Each mission and planet will borrow elements from different genres, and the characters’ actions will influence whether the team is able to recover the orb or not. As the game progresses, characters also have a chance to learn more about the orbs and the overarching plot.

The game itself deals with themes like loyalty, morality and ethics, as the characters have to balance their own goals and fulfilling them against fulfilling their overall mission, or against what they believe is right, good or morally alright. As such, the game includes mature themes (such as violence, betrayal and death) and horror elements.
