Hi, what can I help you with?

Today was gonna be the day, but they'll never throw it back to you. And by now, you should've somehow realized what you're not to do.

Did you? [ !! ] Have you? Oh, Viveca, you are brilliant — yes, you're my favourite.

[ Surprised and delighted all at once, the Doctor lets out a laugh. ]

Now I almost feel a bit like I'm pressing my luck here by wondering if there's something you might be able to help me with. Something aside from the Christmas and the preservation of the hat collection, of which I am very, very grateful.

[ That said, the Doctor is nothing but pro-risk and luck-testing, so. Shame? What shame? ]

[ she laughs, too — she's sure he's just saying it, but it does feel nice to be appreciated, every once in a while.

and because she likes his earnestness, she says, tone still amused,
]

You won't lose anything by asking. What is it I should help you with, then? Bow ties to go with your hat collection?

Well, no, but — oh! Oh, that's a good idea too, I might have to pencil that one in for later if this first ask is too much, yes.

Ah, right.

[ He takes a breath. ]

I was wondering ... how much trouble would it be, really, to find my space ship and have it tethered to the station? Of course she would fit inside it but I think she'd be perfectly happy simply floating about nearby.

You see, I imagine she's looking for me now, as we speak, but is there some way you could let her through?

... I wish I could help you with that, Doctor. I truly do, but — as I'm sure you've guessed, we don't exactly exist anywhere where I could keep her safely.

[ but she can understand his concern. ] What I can do is record a message from you, and send it to her. Usually, I can't do it as it creates a further disturbance in the timeline... but your case, well. It's rather unique, as it is.

No, I suppose you’re right.

[ If the Doctor were a puppy, his ears would be flopping, his tail would stop wagging, and he’d look utterly miserable. But Viveca is right and he’d known there was a very small chance of the possibility being real. Time and space are extremely complicated, and this journey he’s on is even moreso. ]

If we were, I imagine she would have called for me by now.

[ He can’t help but pause then, hand going for the metal key tucked away in his shirt pocket at his chest. It’s like instinct, really, and he keeps it close to him at all times. But Viveca continues to speak and the Doctor immediately perks up, blinking though she can’t see him. ]

Oh? Oh! [ There’s that unmistakable spark in his voice. ] That — yes, I would appreciate that very much. I think she would too. Thank you, Viveca. I’ll craft a message right away.
