I have, yes. I know exactly what they can do... and you'll see a glimpse of their power, once we send you out again.

[ all of the team who've been on missions can attest to that. ]

Can you tell me about that?

If someone did it before, then it means the orbs were gathered before. Weren't they able to get them all?

[vivecai]

They were. That's how I know it is real, their power to erase a regret. [ she wasn't lying about that, when she told the darkling and sans that a previous team did succeed in this task. ]

But things here didn't... quite go to plan. They weren't able to contain the orbs here, and they were able to scatter again. That's why you're now gathering them, and why we are working so hard to make sure the wards in the North Wing will hold against them.

But the orbs don't want to be scattered right? How did they get scattered again? [ there is a pause ]

And if they weren't able to contain the orbs here, won't the same happen again when we do it?

[vivecai]

There's a difference between wanting to be together, and not wanting to scatter. They are stronger all together, but they don't like being contained... which is what we must do.

[ a sigh. ] That is why we're doing all we can right now to make sure it doesn't happen again.

What happened to the last people who tried to do this? [ he has a feeling he knows the answer ]

The last team succeeded in gathering the orbs. They're back in their worlds, living their lives.

[ ... most of them, at least. ]

That's actually a really good answer and Kaneki is surprised to hear they survived (he doesn't remember to ask if all of them did, a small lapse). It gives him hope that this isn't going to kill them all and they can actually make everything work out.

Before you? I'm actually not quite sure. I know it seems like I have all the information, but... my data only goes back so far. Anything before that I don't really know of. I know of the team before you, but anything before their time...

[ she isn't all-knowing, in the end. ]
