// VIVECA
Hi, what can I help you with?
// DEGAR
Today was gonna be the day, but they'll never throw it back to you. And by now, you should've somehow realized what you're not to do.

[ her voice is rather wry, but friendly. ]
Most tend to go with things they have directly affected, but... no. It doesn't have to be something you've personally done.

[Finn surprised by how much like a ‘regular’ human she sounded. He wondered if she were a copy of someone who once existed, or if the computers here were just advanced enough have created such a lifelike rendition from scratch.]
So, just like that, you can wish for almost anything? I could undo something someone else did, if I wanted?
[Finn was fairly content in his regret. Or discontent, really. He wasn’t looking to change it anytime soon, but he had to do his diligence. It was obviously powerful, whatever they were dealing with. It was a lot to consider.]

[ so while an individual orb may not be able to do everything... once they have all been gathered, there will be no limit to it. ]

[A dangerous, persnickety thing, timeline altering. They would have to choose their change carefully if they wanted to limit the fallout.]
What happens to the old one?
no subject
[ she pauses. ] The old timeline will continue on, without you, once a new one is created.

When he finally speaks, his voice is a little hoarse with thought. He sounds both older and younger simultaneously.]
But what if something happens to them? [He presses his lips together tightly.] What if they miss us?
no subject
[ her tone is quiet, strained. she's made this same choice, too. ] I know it's hard... but if you believe your regret is worth it, then you will be able to live with it.

Hard…yeah. Yeah. [Finn didn’t like doing harm arithmetic. He’d seen the damage that creating alternate timelines could reap first hand, and it was grim. His whole regret was mired in timeline manipulation, cut whole cloth from trying to fix something that never should have been touched in the first place. Thinking about any of it too hard made him feel like he was underwater, with no idea which way was up.]
…thank you for telling me, Viv. Really. I…I have a lot to think about.
[He was fast to disconnect, giving her no chance to respond further, not wanting to hear anything else, afraid to, if he was being brutally honest with himself. Maybe he’d been too quick - too desperate - for a fast fix after all. Bailing on his problem instead of facing it head on.
He desperately wished he could talk to his brother, the person who was going to have to live with it most directly. Jake would know what to do.]
