MISSION: ROAD TO ANKATA [ ooc guide ]

CUBITS: AN OOC EXPLANATION

CLICK TO EXPAND
The animal species inhabiting Ankata can be roughly categorized into three groups:
1) the apexes — the sapient life-forms that are mostly humanoid in appearance;
2) Cubits — creatures that possess sentience and very basic levels of sapience;
3) fauna — sentient creatures most similar to animals of Earth.
Basically, Cubits (pronounced kyoo-bits) are P*kemon. They can think and feel and communicate* with their trainers, many often domesticating themselves to benefit from being part of society.

*Cubits don't actually speak apart from saying their names and variations there-of, but they're dang good at conveying meaning every other way.

Cubits are greatly embedded in Ankata's culture, to the point that many professions revolve around the study of and/or care for them. One popular subset of Cubit engagement is competitive sport, where people can enter the world of professional Cubit training as early as age 10. Every town has a "gym" where trainers can battle its leaders to earn badges and gain renown. Should a trainer defeat all ten, they have the opportunity to challenge the current Champion and dethrone them.

While anyone can have as many Cubits as they like, trainers can only have a permanent team of three to battle with for the season.

Like their trainers, each and every Cubit is unique in personality and demeanor! Have fun brainstorming the dynamics of your team, or feel free to let the RNG gods decide.

BATTLING

CLICK TO EXPAND
Find all possible moves (or "attacks") listed HERE. To filter for ease of use, use the dropdown menu next to TYPE. To keep things simple, please note the following guidelines:
• Each Cubit can only have three moves.
• A Cubit's moves is determined by their type.
• Factors like level, category (physical/special/status), power, accuracy, PP, and probability aren't a consideration.

For ease of play, the "success" of a move or battle is then determined by one or a combination of the following:
• what makes the most intuitive sense based on the types of moves and Cubits used;
• what makes the most narrative sense based on player preferences;
• skill checks and saves via a 20-sided die
Overall, the outcome of IC play outside of gym battles will be determined by the OOC choices that players decide amongst themselves and will not have any mod interaction.

STORAGE

CLICK TO EXPAND
Every Cubit is "stored" in tech known as cubitiles. Each cubitile is 2.5cm tall and wide, with six sides. They vary in design (for no other purpose other than cosmetic) but all contain a small screen on one side where a simple digital display conveys the housed cubit's status.
:) means the Cubit is content;
:( means the Cubit is unhappy and in need of something;
Cubitiles can only house one cubit at a time, and can be purchased in almost every store within Ankata.
